For a manufacturer of marine pumps, I designed an oscillating system which, using adapted motorcycle reed valves, was capable of self-priming to a height of 4m whilst also dealing with typical bilge detritus.
Sadly, the power consumption exceeded that available on most small boats, for which the pump was intended.
