This padlock prevents anyone opening the gate to my house, whilst still allowing pedestrian access to the driveway via the small gate on the right. (It assumes that anyone who might be trying to steal eg my car would not come equipped with an anglegrinder, hacksaw or sledgehammer).
I had to bend the handle on the gate upwards, which I managed to do without snapping the rather aged ironwork. This places the handle in contact with the horizontal bar on the gate.
This configuration ensures that the post can’t be pulled upwards out of its hole in the ground (without a great deal of force/noise).
