Having rejected various commercial navigation systems for cars in favour of a phone-based GPS app, I then needed a way to mount the device in our car. Instead of paying £11 or so for a posable holder, I chose to use some U-section plastic conduit with adhesive foam on the underside.
Two sections of this were attached to the dash and the screen so that the phone can easily be moved in or out, but still held firmly when in use.
I cut the top one short to allow easier access to the control buttons on the phone.
