Head symbols, 1996

Once again, I find myself interested in the idea that the visual world, which seems so real, is actually constructed by my mind from a collection of symbols. What I see isn’t what’s actually “out there” at all, but a simplified, iconified version of the bits which are relevant to my survival.

I thought I might as well create a picture purely of symbols to draw attention to this phenomenon.

A daughter, I’m not sure which, has helpfully added her own annotation when I wasn’t looking.
