This is an image from 1993 of a birthday cake featuring Bugs Bunny constructed in icing.

Actually, it’s an enhanced image of a phone photo of a printed analogue shot -hence the limited quality.

This is a sketch I did as a 10th birthday present to a daughter. So proud of this dressing gown that I’m pretty sure she hasn’t taken it off since xmas.

I’ve been encouraged to take my cartoon work a bit more seriously and have produced a new series of domestic scenes involving clutter, mayhem and chaos. All of this features the hapless inhabitants of a fictional street here.

These are for sale and yes, I’m happy to take commissions or do caricatures (even those involving your dysfunctional pet/ car/ team/ husband).

(Just get in touch using the contact form).

I made this goat skull from 40mm, push-fit plastic pipe.

A Christmas present to my wife, it is intended to resemble Cantor the cartoon goat who views the world with a variety of emotions here.

Since we live in an area in which many sheds and garages are adorned by antlers, skulls and assorted taxidermy, I thought it might be fun to inject some mild irony.

No animals were harmed in the making of this piece.

(I really must get that shed repainted soon).

Having become co-owner of a thinly-built collie, it was necessary to prevent the animal from heeding the call of the wild. The gaps in our gate were effectively closed by the use of my beloved zinc-coated iron garden wire.

Design? Well, I tried to make the pattern reasonably attractive without it being too visually imposing.

I drew a few graphics centring on this literary character to support the brand for a new creativity business venture.

Muse Tuners is run by the celebrated poet Kona Macphee who, in her other 100 hours work per week, is aka Mrs Andrews.

A small gift for a newly-graduated daughter. The Sylvanian rodent has managed to grab the Duplo cheese and evade the trap. You don’t have to think very allegorically to interpret my view of academe.

For several years our youngest daughter shared ‘her’ creativity table with my wife’s attempts to write poems and software. Since then, we have managed to substitute a piano in this space. The daughter has moved her mess upstairs; the poet now has a resplendent shed.

Having found a source of artist’s wooden figures at £3 each, I bought ten, specifically to build some kind of a longjump sequence. In the end, I found this astonishing acrobatics YouTube video and opted to express a small sequence from it in wood.

This meant having to break various spring-loaded joints and reattach them at more extreme angles than the average wood mannequin can manage.

The idea is that each of the figures stands for a moment in time, not that ten guys have decided to get airborne in quick succession.

I’m particularly pleased by the three who aren’t attached to the beam (they are actually pinned to the wall using cable clips).

Here is a little foray into 3-D wire dollshouses on behalf of a daughter. It seems to work well precisely because it doesn’t have too much detail and thus allows the imagination freer rein. For some reason, the line quality reminds me of the illustrations in this children’s book, which used to be a big favourite in our household.
